Depending on the matter, some preliminary steps may be handled remotely, while particular documents or proceedings may require execution or attendance in Sri Lanka.

The appropriate structure or process depends on the property, parties and proposed transaction.

The timeframe depends on the nature and complexity of the matter, the documents available and whether courts, registries, regulators, banks or other parties are involved. Where reasonably possible, the anticipated stages and likely timeframe will be explained after the matter has been reviewed.
K & K Legal supports the early consideration of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), including negotiation, mediation and, where applicable, arbitration. ADR may allow the parties to retain greater control over the process, address matters more privately, reduce unnecessary time and expense, and preserve continuing family or commercial relationships.
ADR is not appropriate for every dispute. Court or tribunal proceedings may still be necessary where urgent relief, formal enforcement or a binding judicial determination is required, or where another party is unwilling to participate constructively. The appropriate course depends on the circumstances of each matter.
Once sufficient preliminary information is available, the proposed scope of work, basis of fees and any required initial payment are confirmed before substantive work begins. If the matter later requires work outside the agreed scope, this is addressed separately.
